this was mildly underwhelming for a Yuatcha branch, we had visited during the Chinese New Year week which mightve caused some staffing issues. i ordered the aromatic duck because the pecking duck couldve only come as an entire duck or half a duck, i had no appetite for half a duck and my wife eats as much as a duck does so she's not a dependable dining partner. anyway the duck was a bit too dry, the hoisin sauce struggled to match it, the dispensation of the veggies was slightly lesser than what mightve been sumptuous. we ordered a singaporean style noodle, which was okay. we also ordered some deserts i got curious and read further, the restaurant lost its Michelin star in 2019 and i gather that the prices have reduced steeply since, being currently around 30-40% cheaper than it used to be

The service was terrible. Very slow service, the waiter is rude and does not ask you anything politely. The staff is not the most welcoming at such an expensive place. The food is average. The cheng fun is good but bao and dimsums are below average. The restaurant is so loud with so loud with so loud music and so loud people, it’s just too much to sit. My Apple Watch kept showing dangerously loud noise signs. The seating is absolutely uncomfortable with no space to keep your legs. It’s a very small table and chair with no armrest, no leg space and the chair is so small. It’s one of the worst restaurants I have been to especially if I compare to tao groups other restaurants like Hakkasan.

The menu has shrunk and portions smaller. Has lost its number one dimsum spot.

Ticks all the boxes when it comes to a special dining experience in London. I would definitely recommend this for anyone who wants a upscale Chinese cuisine experience in London. Slightly on the pricy side, but the excellent service an attention to detail as well as quality of ingredients and dishes justifies it.

Brought a friend for dim sum after a trip to the British Museum. All offerings were delicious and the service was great.

The fish tanks were very pretty, I went for the weekend brunch menu for £45pp and we were sat downstairs (no natural light) right by the bar which felt very crammed compared to the natural light seating they offer upstairs, there was next to no leg space under the tables. The service was a little intense for me, being that you could have bottomless dimsum (the same 3 things) it seemed a bit excessive to explain what they were again and again each time they were reordered. You weren't rushed out though and the truffle dumpling (one of 3 in each basket) as well as the prawns and scallops main was a stand out (very fresh). The dipping chilli oil was very good too. The only disappointing thing on the menu were the pancakes, it was small and dry, more like a dry sponge cake cut into circles than a Japanese souffle pancake, if that's what you're expecting.

The ambiance was lovely, and the service was really good. A special mention to Milagres, who was an excellent server and made us feel very welcome. The biggest disappointment was the Kwetio noodles—the portion was small, the price was steep at £22, and the taste was below average. Definitely not worth it. The desserts were also underwhelming, which was a letdown after a promising start. On the plus side, the Popcorn Old Fashioned was a good drink and definitely worth trying. While some aspects were enjoyable, the food quality for the price left a lot to be desired.

If you want authentic Chinese food, I’d recommend you going else where. I was so perplexed when the skin of the Har Gao broke immediately when I CAREFULLY picked it up, and that happened to every single Har Gao in the steamer. Someone on the table ordered fried noodles, it was the right colour (glossy brown) yet tasteless, did the chef forget that dark soy sauce and light soy sauce have different use?? We ordered tea for the table as one would in a Chinese restaurant, and to our surprise the tea pot didn’t have any leaves in it? Every time we wanted more tea they’d take the tea pot away and make the tea at the bar and bring back another teapot with no leaves, which would take like 10 minutes. It also took asking three times for each time we wanted a refill. I genuinely don’t understand the appeal of this restaurant. It’s overpriced, overcrowded, poor service and sub par food.

We tried the spirit set menu. The dim sum and drinks were of good quality (4/5). We particularly enjoyed the Szechuan margarita. The mains were alright but nothing special - fish was fresh but the chicken was a bit too salty (3/5). It was quite strange/disappointing that the signature dessert was western style; most likely they are outsourced and were not that nice (2/5). Overall, not as nice as we were hoping for given the price tag. Nothing to fault with the service.

i not been in this place for a while and unfortunately the quality has gone south big time....despite it being very pricey i was shocked that they use MSG in their dishes; after i left i had a horrible dry mouth and feeling extremely thirsty until the next day Also the waiters weren't that attentive when the restaurant wasn't that busy at all the chairs are rather uncomfortable for a tall person; not inclusive in the furniture approach i think i'd most likely wouldn't go back....rather disappointing

My recent visit to Yauatcha Soho was, without exaggeration, one of the most disappointing dining experiences I’ve ever had. With its reputation for high-end modern Cantonese cuisine, I expected a memorable meal—but what I received was far from acceptable. Let’s start with the food. The only redeeming dishes of the entire meal were the sea bass and the dumplings, which were decent at best. Everything else was utterly disgusting—poorly executed, lacking flavor, and far below the standards you’d expect from a restaurant of this caliber. Even the desserts, which are supposedly a highlight of Yauatcha, were a complete letdown. I wouldn’t be surprised if they were pulled straight from a freezer. The service was equally atrocious. Our waiter was not only inattentive but outright rude. Despite the mandatory 13.5% service charge already added to the bill, they had the audacity to ask for an additional tip during the billing process—a completely inappropriate and uncomfortable moment. To add insult to injury, when we raised concerns about the quality of the food, the waiter chose to argue with us instead of addressing the issue professionally. And for all this mediocrity? The total bill came to £196.62. Nearly £200 for an evening that left a bad taste—literally and figuratively. Yauatcha may have a glossy reputation and a chic Soho location, but don’t be fooled. If this experience is any indication, it’s all style and no substance. Save your money and your time—there are far better options in London for less pretension and better food.

I sat upstairs but downstairs is much nicer for dinner. Upstairs is better for lunch, more of a modern bistro ambience upstairs.

The portions were smaller compared to other places we've been to. We were seated on the lower floor, which felt a bit too dark for my taste, but the service was attentive and friendly throughout the meal. While the food is on the pricier side, it definitely delivers in terms of flavor. The sea bass was a standout—so fresh and perfectly tender, and I really enjoyed their egg fried rice as well. I’d recommend this spot for a date or special occasion. However, if you’re after a more casual meal, the price might not feel fully justified for the experience.

I attended in a party of 6 to celebrate my Masters Graduation and had a fantastic time. The staff service was impeccable, everyone was helpful and friendly- our waiter especially went above and beyond with his service. From answering our questions about dishes, refilling drinks and just generally checking in we had an amazing experience. The food was delicious and very generously proportioned to allow sharing among the table. I was surprised to receive a congratulations dessert from the staff too and this was a really nice touch. I'll definitely be back and would recommend Yauatcha to everyone!

What an absolutely wonderful way to spend Chinese New Year! We had a lovely table an after short wait at the bar due to it being a very busy night we were waited on by Monica who provided impeccable service all evening - just the right amount of checking up on us and never interrupting our long chats! Top marks for her. The duck was incredible. The venison dim sum was incredible. I love the Lobster dumplings. Everything was fantastic!! Next time I’d love to be seated downstairs where I’d eaten before, but the upstairs was really nice and the vibes were really good all night!

Extremely disappointing experience at Yauatcha Soho on Chinese New Year. We ordered 10 dishes, but 5 never arrived. Despite following up multiple times, we were repeatedly ignored by both the waitstaff and managers. Not a sincere apology, no explanation—just complete indifference. After waiting 1.5 hours, we had no choice but to leave hungry and frustrated. For a high-end Cantonese restaurant, this level of incompetence and lack of basic service is unacceptable. Yauatcha completely RUINED what should have been a special occasion—avoid if you expect to be treated with respect.
